Designer Profile: J.Toor

There is a je ne sais que about a man wearing a perfectly tailored suit.  It can transform the most mundane fellow into a show-stopper.  It is the basis for sophistication, charm and power.  It allows men to measure-up to characters such as Gatsby and Bond. It has an appeal that simply cannot be found within the stitches of a generic suit, and it is this appeal that Chicago design house J.Toor, strives to find for their customer.

Maybe it’s the beautifully selected premium Italian and British fabrics. Maybe it’s the impeccable fit, tailored from scratch in England.  Or maybe it’s the detailed work of the designers.  Whatever it is, the J.Toor team; owner and designer Jivesh Toor, co-founder and creative director Diana McCarty, and designer Jamie Pate, have created more than a fashion line.   What they have created is a lifestyle based brand for the fashion forward male.

Much like the clothing, each private appointment is specially tailored to the individual. Men are welcomed at the 900 N. Michigan Avenue location with Auchentoshan scotch as they converse with professionals on their personal style. The suits are sophisticate and classic, but with a modern twist. The conservative cuts are paired with bold colors and daring patterns.

Although their main focused is on suits, J.Toor also designs, shirts, jackets, trousers, overcoats, knitwear and jeans. They also provide a line of accessories such as pocket squares, ties and hand painted cufflinks.

The J.Toor man seems stylish and well-off, but that shouldn't scare the average male from browsing their designs.  After all, like every woman should own a little black dress; every man should own a well-tailored suit.
